American Airlines Engine Cover Ripped off in Mid-air | Secret Flying

An American Airlines flight with 136 passengers on board, was forced to turn back after an engine cover ripped off as the aircraft ascended.

 

On Monday, American Airlines flight AA403 to San Francisco had to return to Phoenix Sky Harbor airport after part of the engine cover was ripped off during take-off. The part, known as a cowling, was later found on Sky Harbour property. No injuries were reported from the incident.

 

A photo taken by a passenger on the flight shows the wiring and electronics exposed in mid-air after the panel fell to the ground.

 

A Federal Aviation Administration spokesman had confirmed that the incident happened on Monday at around 8.30am, local time. American Airlines have launched an investigation into the incident
