Newcastle Airport opens a kebab takeaway which passengers can bring on board | Secret Flying

A kebab takeaway has opened at Newcastle Airport prompting complaints that flights will now be unbearable with the smell of kebab lingering in the cabin.

Newcastle Airport has opened a new restaurant in the departures lounge which offers customers a selection of boxed kebabs which they can take with them on board their flight.

Pita and Brew’s kebabs (not pictured) are priced at £6.95 each. You can choose from pulled pork, pulled chicken, halloumi and kebab meat – all are served with tomatoes, jalapenos, lettuce and slaw. The airport described the kebabs as “mouth-watering”.

However, some passengers are not exactly thrilled by the news. One social media user tweeted: “I hope the flights are stocking up on the harpic and air freshener”.

Another added: “Ryanair to Dublin full of Stags and Hens munching kebabs. #Rancid”.

Dean Ward, commercial manager at Newcastle Airport, said “This is a grab and go concept and offers something a little bit different and it comes as a result of feedback we have had from customers.”

Last week, Newcastle was named as the UK’s best airport.
