A Scoot passenger has slammed the airline about being given a cup of ice instead of water on his flight.

A passenger claims he was given ice by a flight attendant and told to wait until it melts after asking for a cup of water.

Gene Goh was flying on a delayed flight from Singapore to Osaka, Japan with Scoot when he asked a flight attendant for a cup of water.

Scoot offers only bottled water for purchase, which Goh declined.

According to reports, the flight attendant placed a cup of ice in front of Goh and told him to wait for it to melt.

Posting details of the incident on Scoot’s Facebook page, Goh did not receive the sympathy he may have hoped.

“Dude, budget airline. Got money to go to Osaka, no money to buy water huh? If you want free things don’t travel. Entitled youth,” one user commented.

“Just few dollars for a mineral water. Don’t tell me you couldn’t afford it. stop making yourself cheap … Well done cabin crew! You did the right thing,” another said.

However, some did take Goh’s side over the airline’s.

“Drinking water is a basic necessity and when you need to drink, you need to drink,” one commenter said.

“Yes, it is a budget flight and you are expected to pay for food and drinks… but in the event of delay, the company should shoulder the responsibility of ensuring the minimal welfare of its passengers.”

Tap water may be the worst thing you can order on a plane.

A study by the Environmental Protection Agency found that one in eight planes fails the standards for water safety.
