Passenger steals $10,000 cash and two credit cards during flight.

A passenger on an American Airlines flight from Buenos Aires, Argentina to Miami allegedly stole more than $10,000 in cash and two credit cards from other passengers on the plane.

According to crew members, Diego Sebastian Radio behaved suspiciously during the nine-and-a-half-hour flight where he “repeatedly walked up and down the airplane aisle” and sat on a seat that he was not assigned to for part of the journey.

One crew member then said she “observed Radio with what appeared to be a female wallet.”

Cabin crew called ahead to Miami International Airport to inform them of the suspected thefts. Radio was apprehended by US Customs & Border Patrol upon arriving in the United States.

Searching his backpack, authorities found $10,732 and 14,320 in Argentine Pesos, along with two credit cards.

Other passengers on the flight confirmed that cash and credit cards were missing and at least one of their wallets had been unzipped.

The 29-year-old was charged with one count of theft of personal property valued at greater than $1,000 within the special maritime and territorial jurisdiction of the United States.

He is being held on $250,000 bond at the Federal Detention Center in Miami ahead of his arraignment on 20 July.
