Beware of British Airways email scam

Beware of British Airways email scam | Secret Flying

British Airways have warned people not to be fooled by a scam email offering free BA flights.

Over the past week, many emails pretending to be from British Airways have been sent out to unsuspecting individuals claiming to offer a £1000 flight voucher.

The scammers have managed to make the email seem as if it was sent by “British Airways”, however, when you explore the details of the sender, you will see an email address which is definitely not associated to the airline (see image below).

The email reads that British Airways are celebrating the launch of new routes and so are offering £1000 vouchers to use on flights. In typical scamming fashion, the email pressures the reader to act fast: “Don’t think twice. This offer is available through today only!”

You’re then invited to click on a link to select your ‘dream destination’ where you are asked to enter various personal details that the scammers may then use to steal your identity.

When receiving emails of this kind, it is important not to click on any links within them, as these may also result in malware being downloaded on to your computer or device.
