Emirates offer free Covid-19 insurance.

Emirates is now offering free insurance when you fly with them in an attempt to lure passengers back to the skies.

In the event that you are infected by Covid-19 during a trip where you flew with Emirates, the airline’s insurance will cover medical expenses, hotel quarantining and even the repatriation of your body and your funeral if you die.

The insurance will cover costs up to the value of €150,000; $176,500; £137,000.

“We know people are yearning to fly as borders around the world gradually re-open, but they are seeking flexibility and assurances should something unforeseen happen during their travel,” Emirates Group Chairman Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said in a statement.

“We are putting our customers first, and we believe they will welcome this initiative.”

According to reports, the insurance is free to all customers regardless of class of travel or destination and is applied automatically with no need to register.

The announcement comes as Tim Clark, President of Emirates, said the carrier is flying 10% of the number of people they’d normally carry.

Last month, the Dubai-based airline said it is set to cut as many as 9,000 jobs.

The insurance covers travel between now and October 31, 2020, and is valid for 31 days from your first flight. You are also insured even if you travel onwards to another city.
