California couple arrested on their honeymoon.

A newlywed California couple who reportedly left their Waikiki hotel room repeatedly, were arrested by police after hotel staff warned them not to leave the premises.

Borice Leouskiy, 20, and Yuliia Andreichenko, 26, of Citrus Heights, were instructed of the two-week self-quarantine rules when they arrived Wednesday night to their hotel.

According to reports, the pair disregarded the hotel’s instructions claiming that it contradicted what Hawaiian airport screeners told them.

On the first night, as they returned to the hotel at midnight after buying a pizza from a nearby restaurant, they allegedly told the manager that they were allowed to leave the hotel for food and refused to sign a quarantine agreement.

The next day, the newlyweds decided to leave the hotel again prompting management to call the police.

The couple were arrested on charges of unsworn falsification to authority and violation of the 14-day quarantine.

“We appreciate the vigilance and cooperation of the hotel staff, and staff at other hotels, in helping maintain the health and safety of visitors and residents. It is important that everyone flying into Hawaii at this time, abide by our mandatory rules,” Hawaii Attorney General Clare Connors said.

The shutdown has devastated the Hawaiian islands’ economy, which is hugely dependent on tourism.

Unemployment in the state is estimated to be in the range of 25% to 35%.
