Ten Western tourists are facing a possible year behind bars in Cambodia for producing ‘pornographic’ photos during a party near the Angkor Wat temple complex.

Ten Westerners face up to a year in a Cambodian jail after being arrested last week near Angkor Wat for ‘producing’ pornography.

Over the weekend, they were formally charged for the images, which the prosecutor said had been posted on social media.

The accused ten were arrested on Thursday along with 77 other foreigners in a raid on the “Pub Crawl or Let’s Get Wet” event in Siem Reap province.

Those charged are five Britons, two Canadians, one Dutch citizen, a New Zealander and a Norwegian.

The group face up to one year in jail as they await trial.

The other 77 foreigners arrested were freed after being educated about their unacceptable behavior.

The group, now dressed in orange Guantanamo Bay style jumpsuits, have had their hair and beards shaved whilst in custody to stop lice spreading.

Cambodian officials have been cracking down in recent years on Westerners who they say are failing to respect the country’s sacred spaces.

Supporting the arrests of the tourists, Tourism Minister Thong Khon said: “The law bans this kind of thing and maybe they were warned in advance. Siem Reap is a heritage site.”
