Finding Cheap Flights From Kyiv
Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, was primarily served by two airports: Boryspil International Airport (KBP) and Kyiv International Airport (Zhuliany) (IEV). Due to the ongoing war following Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022, all Ukrainian airspace is closed to civilian traffic. Both airports are currently non-operational for commercial flights.
Historically, Boryspil (KBP) was the main international hub, offering a vast network across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and North America. Zhuliany (IEV) focused on domestic, low-cost, and regional flights. Top pre-war routes included Istanbul, Warsaw, Tel Aviv, Dubai, and numerous European capitals.
Prior to 2022, Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) was the flag carrier based at KBP. The airports were also served by many international airlines including Lufthansa, Air France, LOT, and Turkish Airlines. Low-cost carriers like Wizz Air and Ryanair had significant operations at IEV. All operations are suspended.
Critical Current Status: Finding commercial flights from Kyiv is currently impossible. Air travel is suspended indefinitely due to the extreme safety risks of active warfare. Travel to Ukraine is strongly discouraged by all governments. When peace is restored, Kyiv will undoubtedly rebuild its aviation network. Future booking advice will involve checking re-established routes on Ukrainian and international carriers, with likely connections through hubs in Poland, Turkey, and the EU. For now, this information serves as historical context.
