‘Miracle’ escape after plane gets tangled into ski lift cables in Italian Alps | Secret Flying

A light plane has been left hanging upside down tangled in ski lift cables.

A 62-year-old pilot and 55-year-old passenger miraculously escaped unhurt after their plane crashed into ski lift cables in Italy.

Dramatic footage shows the aircraft tangled in the cables, dangling upside down.

Both men can be seen sitting on the wing of the overturned plane, as a 20-strong team of mountain rescue and firefighters attempt to reach them.

The incident occurred on Sunday at Prato Valentino ski resort at Teglio, north of Milan, in the Italian Alps.

According to reports, the plane had taken off from an airfield nearby for a sightseeing flight when it lost power and crashed into the cables.

Mountain rescue spokesman Walter Milan said: “They were both very lucky really. If the plane had crashed into the ground the ending could have been very different.

“It was a complicated rescue operation involving many services but ultimately it was successful which was the main thing.

Neither of the men were in injured but they were very shocked.”
