Aeromexico trolls the US by offering Mexican ‘DNA Discounts’

AeroMexico unveiled a new “DNA Discounts” program offering flights at lower rates for Americans with Mexican DNA.

 

Aeromexico has unveiled a program offering discounts on flights to Americans who can prove they have Mexican DNA.

 

The amount of the discount depends on the percentage of Mexican ancestry. For example, a person who has 10% Mexican heritage, qualifies for 10% off.

 

According to reports, the promotion is only available in some states, Utah and Arizona among them.

 

In the commercial, Aeromexico representatives speak to Americans who are not too fond of their southern neighbours.

 

However after performing DNA tests on the subjects, perspectives shifted.

 

“You’re 22 percent Mexican,” the person says, speaking to a grizzled old man in a denim vest, who proclaims: “That’s bulls**t!”

 

“So you get 22 percent off a flight to Mexico,” the speaker adds.

 

“Oh come on now, seriously? Is that for real?” the man replies. “What if I wanna take my wife?!”

 

The commercial comes amid increased tensions over Mexican immigration.

 

The partial US government shutdown, which began on 22nd December 2018, stemmed from an impasse over Trump’s demand for $5.6 billion in federal funds for a US-Mexico border wall.

 

Democrats in the US House of Representatives rejected this demand, citing Trump’s earlier campaign promise that Mexico would pay for the wall.
