Drunk man on Air India urinates on woman.

Air India has announced it has slapped a 30-day ban on a man who exposed and urinated on an elderly female passenger on a New York to Delhi flight in November.

According to reports, shortly after lunch was served and the lights were switched off, the drunk man made his way to the business class cabin and unzipped his pants before urinating on an elderly woman and her belongings.

In a letter written by the woman intended for the airline, she claims her seat, clothes, shoes, and bag were drenched in the man’s urine.

A flight attendant reportedly sprayed disinfectant on her belongings after initially refusing to assist her.

The woman claims she wasn’t given a change of seat as cabin crew refused to let her sit in First Class – the only cabin which was not fully booked.

Instead she was offered the small seat used by the flight crew, where she stayed for a few hours but was asked to return to her urine-soaked seat again before landing.

Incredibly, despite the Air India crew being aware of the incident, the man managed to go scot-free after the flight landed in Delhi.

It was only after the woman sent the letter to Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chairperson of the Tata Group, that the airline started a probe into the incident.

“The crew was not proactive in managing a very sensitive and traumatic situation, and I had to advocate for myself throughout, waiting for long periods of time to get a response. I am …distressed that the airline made no attempt to ensure my safety or comfort during this incident,” the woman said in the letter.

In a statement, Air India said: “The passenger has been banned from flying with Air India for 30 days or till the decision of the internal committee, whichever is earlier. If found guilty, action will be taken against the unruly passenger as per regulatory guidelines.

“We’ve also constituted an internal committee to probe lapses on part of Air India’s crew and address the deficiencies that delayed quick redressal of the situation. We’re in regular contact with the aggrieved passenger & her family during the probe and reporting process,” the spokesperson further added.
