Airline meals are being stockpiled over fears a no-deal Brexit could leave flights without food.

 

The world’s largest caterer to the aviation industry has been increasing inventory levels of frozen food from the EU in case of a no-deal Brexit.

 

Gate Gourmet is stockpiling 7-10 days worth of frozen entrees, pizzas and desserts in a warehouse in Peterborough.

 

“Companies could be in difficulty if they haven’t prepared themselves and ensured a continuity of supply,” Stephen Corr, the company’s Western Europe managing director said.

 

“We’ve been gradually increasing inventory levels of products from the European Union to ensure that any initial disruption at the UK border can be covered.”

 

As the 29th March Brexit deadline draws nearer, there is still a great deal of uncertainty as to what will happen in a no-deal situation.

 

A number of items around the country are being stockpiled, including drugs for the NHS, wine, and supermarket frozen meals.

 

Some politicians have warned flights could even be grounded in a no-deal Brexit.
