Ryanair is the latest airline to ground Boeing 737 NG planes.

Ryanair is the latest airline to ground Boeing 737 NG jets after finding cracks between the wing and fuselage.

The Irish low-cost-carrier has grounded three planes, adding to the already 50 aircraft pulled out of service worldwide.

The cracks are located in an area known as the “pickle fork” – a section that attaches the plane’s fuselage to the wing structure.

Last week, Qantas refused to ground all of its Boeing 737 aircraft after cracks were discovered on three of its planes.

Southwest Airlines and Korean Air have also grounded a number of planes.

Boeing has said that inspections have been completed on all 737 NG planes worldwide that have completed more than 30,000 cycles – a cycle is one take-off and landing.

However, the Qantas planes found to have cracks on them were below the 30,000 cycle limit.

Of the 1,000 planes Boeing has checked, faults were found in less than 5% of them.
