Boeing will halt production of its troubled 737 Max.
Boeing decided on Monday to temporarily suspend production of its 737 Max planes.
Since the two deadly crashes and a worldwide grounding of the plane, Boeing has continued to build the jets.
However, the call was made to halt production after the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said last week it would not approve the plane’s return to service quickly.
Boeing had initially been hoping to have 737 Max’s back in the air by the end of this year.
“Safely returning the 737 Max to service is our top priority,” Boeing said in a statement.
“We know that the process of approving the 737 Max’s return to service, and of determining appropriate training requirements, must be extraordinarily thorough and robust, to ensure that our regulators, customers, and the flying public have confidence in the 737 Max updates.”
Airline employees have said they do not want to fly on the plane, despite Boeing vowing it would be one of the safest planes ever to fly upon its return.
