British Airways and Air France are halting their flights to Iran next month after newly imposed US sanctions.
British Airways and Air France said Thursday that they would suspend service to Tehran next month.
British Airways said its London to Tehran service “is currently not commercially viable” after recent US sanctions caused a slump in the value of the Iranian currency.
US President Donald Trump abandoned the Iran nuclear deal in May and has re-imposed tough sanctions on the Middle Eastern country.
He has warned foreign businesses to steer clear of Iran to avoid reimposed American sanctions.
The EU, however, agreed 18 million euros ($20.6 million) in aid for Iran to help offset the impact of US sanctions.
BA said its last outbound flight to Tehran will be on September 22, whilst Air France will stop flights from Paris to Tehran from September 18.
