Flight cancellations follow US strikes and regional instability.

British Airways has suspended its services between London Heathrow and the cities of Dubai and Doha in the wake of escalating tensions in the Middle East. The decision came shortly after the United States conducted military strikes on Iranian facilities, raising fears of further unrest in the region.

The airline cited safety as its primary concern in light of the current geopolitical situation. “Following recent developments, we’ve amended our flight schedule to prioritise the safety of our customers and crew,” a British Airways spokesperson stated. Both outbound and inbound flights between Heathrow and the two major Gulf cities were cancelled over the weekend.

On Saturday night, one of British Airways’ flights en route to Dubai had to be diverted to Zurich, according to data from the flight-tracking platform Flightradar24. No further flights were shown as available for the route on either Sunday or Monday when checked via the airline’s official site. British Airways has yet to confirm a definitive restart date.

The carrier usually operates three daily flights to Dubai and two to Doha.

Airlines such as Emirates and Qatar Airways, however, continued to maintain operations between Heathrow and their respective hubs in Dubai and Doha. Airspace closures were also reported in Iraq, Jordan and Syria, intensifying the disruption across the region.

British Airways confirmed that it would continue monitoring the security situation closely and would update its schedule accordingly. In the meantime, passengers affected by the cancellations have been advised to consult the airline’s customer service channels for rebooking and support options.
