A man is being sued by a Chinese airline after throwing coins into the engine for good luck.
A 28-year-old man is being sued by a Chinese airline after he threw coins into the plane’s engine for good luck.
The airline, ironically named ‘Lucky Air,’ was forced to cancel the flight from Anqing to Kunming on February 17 as a result.
According to reports, the superstitious man was travelling with his wife and one-year-old child and was hoping for a safe journey.
He was arrested and detained for seven days.
The incident cost Lucky Air nearly ¥140,000 ($21,000).
“Our company will press charges against the passenger in accordance with the law,” Lucky Air said in a statement.
It’s not the first time a passenger has thrown coins into an aircraft engine for good luck.
In 2017, an elderly woman performed the exact same practise. She was also flying from Anqing with Lucky Air.
