A Chinese man has been detained after he opened the emergency door because the cabin was ‘too hot and stuffy’.
A flight passenger in Sichuan, south-west China, has been arrested after he opened a plane’s emergency door for some fresh air.
The incident occurred whilst passengers were waiting to disembark the Lucky Air plane at Mianyang Nanjiao Airport.
Chen, 25, claims he did not know that it was an emergency door, saying: “Because it was so stuffy, so hot on the plane, I just pushed down on the window handle beside me. When the door fell out, I panicked.”
Mr Chen has been detained for 15 days and is expecting a fine of ¥70,000 ($11,000 USD) to cover the airline’s costs.
