A Delta passenger has been left “horrified” after having to sit in dog poop on a flight from Atlanta to Miami.

A US man is outraged after he was forced to spend a two-hour Delta Air Lines flight sitting in dog poo.

Matthew Meehan boarded the Atlanta to Miami flight and sat down in his business class seat, before realising there was poo all over his seat.

Meehan said: “It was feces, and it was everywhere. It was on my seat. It was on the floor. My feet were in it.

“Words can’t even describe how awful it was.”

According to reports, cabin crew provided Mr Meehan with two paper towels and a small bottle of Bombay Sapphire to clean himself up.

“I said, ‘Can we get that cleaned up so I can sit down?’ ” Meehan recalled to Yahoo.

“So she says, ‘Sir, it’s almost time for that plane to leave. You can sit in your seat or you can be left behind.’”

The flight crew originally told Meehan the faeces belonged to a German shepherd on the previous flight.

However, a gate agent said in his paperwork that it belonged to an older man who got sick upon landing.

In a statement to Yahoo, Delta said: “On November 1, an aircraft operating flight 1949 from Atlanta to Miami was boarded before cleaning was completed following an incident from a previous flight with an ill service animal.

“Delta apologises to customers impacted by the incident and has reached out to make it right, offering a refund and additional compensation.”
