A Delta Air Lines flight from New York to Seattle had to make a stop in Montana after the plane’s toilets were full and passengers couldn’t hold it any longer.
On Saturday, Delta flight 453 had to make an emergency landing at Billings Logan International Airport to allow passengers to use the restroom on the ground after the toilets on-board malfunctioned.
The flight, heading from New York City to Seattle, diverted hundreds of miles to allow passengers “to find relief of built-up pressures” as the incident report put it.
When the plane landed in Billings, Montana, a gate wasn’t available, so the aircraft had to taxi to a cargo area.
Ground crew staff used a rolling stairway so the passengers could disembark and then led them into the airport terminal.
The plane refueled during the stop and was delayed for approximately three and a half hours in total.
