A Delta Air Lines passenger was asked to leave the aircraft after he used the lavatory when the plane was getting ready for takeoff.

Kima Hamilton, a Delta passenger flying from Atlanta to Milwaukee, was asked to leave the plane after using the lavatory during a 30-minute delay on the tarmac.

It is reported that the 39-year-old DJ got up to ask the crew if he could go to the toilet. After they refused, he went anyway. After Mr Hamilton returned to his seat, the pilot announced that the plane was going back to the terminal to remove a passenger.

“The pilot came on and said, ‘Ladies and gentlemen, I’m sorry for the inconvenience but we have to return to the gate and remove a passenger,’ ” Mr Hamilton said.

As the video filmed by a fellow passenger shows, two Delta employees came on board to ask him to get off the plane. Mr Hamilton calmly refused.

Eventually, flight attendants ordered all passengers to leave the aircraft. They were shortly all asked to re-board again, except Mr Hamilton. The airline had re-sold his seat according to Krista Rosolino, a lawyer who witnessed the incident.

Delta said in a written statement: “Our flight crews are extensively trained to ensure the safety and security of all customers. It is imperative that passengers comply with crew instructions during all phases of flight, especially at the critical points of takeoff and landing.”
