JetBlue is ditching Coca-Cola in favour of bitter rival Pepsi.
From June 3, JetBlue Airways will no longer serve Coca-Cola and will instead switch to Pepsi products.
According to a leaked internal communication to airline staff, the carrier announced the new complimentary drinks line-up.
“We’re refreshing our Core complimentary beverage lineup to offer customers exciting new product options they’ve asked for, while also bringing sustainability benefits, and controlling growing costs,” it read.
“Most notably, this includes the introduction of Pepsi products to our offering beginning June 3.”
As a result of the change, some social media users were left fizzing with rage.
“Just found out that @JetBlue is switching from coke to pepsi products and honestly, i’m devastated. ?,” wrote one Twitter user.
“@JetBlue Pepsi? What are we, monsters? Bring back the Coke,” another said.
The rivalry between Coca-Cola and Pepsi dates back to the 1970’s when the soft drink companies underwent an advertising war.
The mutually-targeted marketing campaigns was known as the ‘cola wars.’
