A man has been banned for life from flying with Jet2 after his behaviour caused a flight to Ibiza to make an unscheduled stop in France.

A drunk passenger who brought on board a blow up doll has been banned for life from flying with Jet2 after his behaviour resulted in a Belfast to Ibiza flight being diverted.

When the man was refused more alcohol, he became “verbally abusive” to staff  which led the pilot to land in Toulouse, France to offload the passenger.

The captain warned passengers when they took off from Toulouse that he would stop the flight in Barcelona to remove more passengers if the disruptive behaviour continued.

Reports suggest the man was part of a stag group.

A father, who was travelling with his children on the flight, tweeted: “Nice one guys! Together with a blow up doll at 7am in front of my kids & long queues. Way to go!”

Phil Ward, managing director at Jet2 said: “We will not under any circumstances tolerate this type of disgraceful behaviour onboard our aircraft.

“Fellow customers and families travelling for a well earned holiday should not be subjected to this sort of behaviour and we sincerely apologise to all the other customers on that flight.

“We will be taking further action in support of our crew to ensure the passenger is held accountable for his actions and indeed he has already received a lifetime ban from future Jet2.com flights.”
