An Ohio man who called in a fake bomb threat to delay his flight has been sentenced to four months in prison.
A man who made a false bomb threat to Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport in the hopes of delaying his flight was sentenced to four months in prison Thursday.
Dana Carter, 40, of Dayton, Ohio, made a series of calls saying there was a bomb on a Dallas, Texas-bound United Airlines flight in October.
Mr Carter made the calls because he was worried he was going to miss his flight.
United Airlines cancelled the flight and police searched the plane.
According to court records, Mr Carter’s plan worked as he was put on another flight that left within two hours.
Even Carter’s attorney called the fake bomb threat a “foolish act.”
According to reports, Carter will serve the sentence on weekends, over a total of 60 weeks.
He will also be liable for $7,700 in restitution to United Airlines over the cancelled flight.
After his release, Carter will be on federal probation for three years.
