Pakistan International Airlines is cracking down on “excess weight” of some of its cabin crew.

Pakistan’s national airline. PIA, has allegedly told their obese cabin crew to lose weight or risk being allocated ground duties.

A memo was sent out to 1,800 employees warning that their weight would be measured in the near future.

The flight attendants were told to slim down to required limits by then.

“If any crew found above 30lbs from the desired weight after January 31, 2019, will be grounded and referred to Aircrew Medical Centre for medical evaluation and treatment until weight is reduced up to desired standard/BMI,” the memo reads.

According to reports, those already “on weight check” need to report monthly to a “grooming cell” to receive clearance to fly.

“No one would like to have shabby crew in the aircraft,” PIA spokesman Mashhood Tajwar said.
