Ronaldinho will not be charged by Paraguayan authorities.

Paraguayan officials have said Brazilian football legend Ronaldinho and his brother will not be charged after they allegedly used altered passports in the country on Wednesday.

The two men were detained in a hotel on the outskirts of the Paraguayan capital Asuncion after police reportedly discovered they were using the fake documents.

Police also found an allegedly doctored Paraguayan ID card.

Despite a night of interrogation, it appears Ronaldinho and his brother Roberto de Assis Moreira will escape prosecution.

Prosecutor Federico Delfino said he had recommended not pursuing the two, as he felt the brothers were “deceived”.

Instead, Ronaldinho will be issued an alternative punishment, likely to be a fine donated to a local charity.

According to reports, the pair had their genuine Brazilian passports seized by a judge last September after they were convicted of building an illegal fishing platform.

The 39-year-old is a World Cup winner and played for the likes of Barcelona, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain in his illustrious career.
