Krabi tourist police found a Russian couple living inside a cave.

A Russian couple left stranded in Thailand due to the coronavirus pandemic have been found living in a cave in Tonsai Bay, Krabi for the past month.

The duo claim they had nowhere to stay when lockdown restrictions throughout Thailand forced their hotel to shut.

In search of somewhere to stay, the pair, who are both in their 30s, found the cave and decided to set up a tent inside.

Police officers escorted the couple to a hospital in Ao Nang for a health check, where both were declared healthy with no Covid-19 symptoms.

The Russian Embassy in Thailand were notified about the incident and will provide further assistance.

They have now been put up in a free hotel which has remained open for tourists stranded in Krabi due to the lockdown.
