Alaska Airlines bans senator for an undetermined period.

 

Alaska State Senator Lora Reinbold has been banned from all Alaska Airlines flights for refusing to follow mask requirements.

 

The length of the ban, which goes into immediate effect, will be determined by a review.

 

“We have notified Senator Lora Reinbold that she is not permitted to fly with us for her continued refusal to comply with employee instruction regarding the current mask policy,” airline spokesman Tim Thompson told the Anchorage Daily News on Saturday.

 

The announcement comes after a video was published on social media last week showing the senator argue with Alaska Airlines employees about face masks.

 

“We need you to pull the mask up or I’m not going to let you on the plane,” an airline employee tells Reinbold, who reportedly accuses the carrier of “mask tyranny.”

 

The Eagle River lawmaker was allowed to board that flight to Anchorage, however, now the ban is in place her transportation options to return to Juneau where the Alaska State Capitol is located are limited – Alaska Airlines is the only carrier that operates scheduled flights between the two cities.

 

 

The next ferry from Whittier, a city about 58 miles southeast of Anchorage, to Juneau departs Monday and arrives Wednesday.

 

“Alaska I went to new heights to serve you & have a new appreciation for the marine ferry system,” Reinbold posted on Facebook Sunday night.

 

So far, Alaska Airlines has banned 506 people for violating mask rules.
