Six accused of organised cargo theft ring.

Six people have been arrested and charged in connection with cargo heists at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

The suspects are accused of forging documents for arriving cargo, giving them access to merchandise totalling more than $6 million.

The cargo consisted of designer goods, including Chanel and Gucci products.

Three of the suspects were identified as former airport workers.

The team reportedly used tractor trailers to haul away several pallets of designer clothes, handbags, sneakers, shoes, sunglasses and other accessories.

They were caught when the police raided the Candi World Beauty Bar, a defunct beauty shop in Queens where the stolen merchandise was stashed.

Investigators say the heist echoes of the famous Lufthansa robbery in 1978 that played a starring role in the film “Goodfellas”.

“After months of free spending and probably thinking that they had gotten away with these audacious heists, all six defendants have been indicted,” said Melinda Katz, the Queens County district attorney.

The group is facing 22 counts, including conspiracy, larceny, and other crimes.
