Qatar Airways has been named world’s best airline for the seventh time.
Qatar Airways has been named “Airline of the Year 2022” by the international air transport rating organisation, Skytrax.
This is now the seventh time the Doha-based carrier has won the coveted main award, previously taking it in 2011, 2012, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2021 – the awards were not issued in 2020 meaning Qatar has won title for three consecutive years.
Singapore Airlines and Emirates took second and third place respectively.
The highest ranked European carrier was Turkish Airlines, coming in at seventh.
No US airline made the top ten. In fact the highest US carrier was Delta Air Lines making it at 24th.
United Airlines came in at 60th, whilst American Airlines made 68th.
Qatar Airways also took home three additional awards including “World’s Best Business Class”, “World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining”, and “Best Airline in the Middle East.”
Qatar Airways Chief Executive, Mr. Akbar Al Baker, said: “To be named as the World’s Best Airline was always a goal when Qatar Airways was created, but to win it for the seventh time and pick up three additional awards is a testament to all the hard work of our incredible employees.
“Their continued dedication and drive is to ensure our passengers have the best experience possible when they fly with Qatar Airways. To win these awards in the same year that we celebrate our 25th anniversary is even more rewarding and I want to offer a sincere thanks to all our passengers who voted for us.
