Disney World characters ‘inappropriately touched by tourists’ at theme park.
Disney World staff who dress up as trademark characters have filed complaints with the police accusing tourists of groping them.
Three employees, who portray Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Minnie Mouse, claim multiple incidents where tourists are inappropriately touching them.
The woman inside the Mickey Mouse costume was reportedly sent to hospital with neck injuries after a grandmother patted her on the head.
When the woman contacted police, she was told by the sheriff’s office that the incident is a civil matter, not a criminal one.
In a separate incident in November, a 51-year-old man was arrested after an employee portraying a Disney princess told police he touched her breast while getting a photo taken.
In another incident, a woman in her sixties asked if she could kiss Donald Duck at a meet-and-greet which the employee consented to.
However, the woman allegedly placed her hands inside the costume and “frantically touched her chest over her bra,” the police report said.
“Everyone should feel safe at work, and we encourage Cast Members to come forward in any uncomfortable situation,” said Disney spokeswoman Andrea Finger in a statement.
“We provide multiple resources to protect our Cast Members’ well-being, including on-site law enforcement officers who respond, and are available to them, if needed.”
