Israel Adesanya arrested at JFK over brass knuckles.

Israel Adesanya was arrested Wednesday afternoon for criminal possession of a weapon at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York.

According to reports, the UFC star attempted to go through security at Terminal 8 with brass knuckles, leading to his arrest.

Brass knuckles are illegal in the state of New York. It’s also illegal to carry them with you or in your luggage.

Their possession is considered a Class A misdemeanour, punishable by up to one year in prison plus fines.

“Israel was handed a gift by a fan, which he put in his luggage,” Adesanya’s manager, Tim Simpson, told TMZ Sports.

“When flagged at the airport, Israel quickly disposed of the item and cooperated with authorities. He has complied accordingly.”

He was reportedly released soon after his arrest and was allowed to continue on his journey.

His release was confirmed by Arial Helwani, a Canadian-American sports journalist, known for his coverage of mixed martial arts (MMA).

The incident comes only days after Adesanya lost his middleweight title to Brazilian Alex Pereira in a bruising encounter on the weekend.

Alex Pereira became the new UFC middleweight champion on Saturday night after knocking out Adesanya in the fifth round.
