An AirAsia pilot has been accused of suffocating passengers after putting the air conditioning on full blast to force passengers off the plane.

An AirAsia pilot used the controversial method of putting the air conditioning on full blast to force passengers off a plane in Kolkata, India.

The flight, destined for the Indian city of Bagdogra, was delayed for a number of hours before eventually passengers were able to board.

However, they were soon asked to deplane again due to heavy rain.

Passengers refused to get off the plane prompting the pilot to put the air conditioning on maximum.

Video footage posted on Facebook by Dipankar Ray shows passengers trying to get out as the mist engulfs the cabin.

Many can be heard shouting at crew members for the tactics used.

Mr Ray captioned the video: “This is the way Aviation industry work in India.”

According to reports, some passengers began vomiting as a result of the air conditioning.

AirAsia denied the air conditioning was used to force passengers off the plane.

The airline said: “AirAsia regrets the inconvenience caused to guests on account of this disruption and would like to reinstate that the airline always prioritises safety above all.

“[The air conditioning] is a normal occurrence on-board all aircraft when the air conditioning is operated in high humidity conditions.”
