Frontier passenger duct-taped to seat after reportedly groping flight attendants.

A Frontier Airlines passenger was taped to his seat after he allegedly groped two flight attendants and punched another in the face on a flight from Philadelphia to Miami.

According to reports, Maxwell Berry of Norwalk, Ohio, who had already consumed two alcoholic beverages on the flight, brushed his baseball cap against a flight attendant’s buttocks.

A while later, Berry visited the restroom after he spilled a drink on himself. When he came out, he was topless before reportedly groping a second flight attendant’s breasts.

Berry then approached both the first and second flight attendants, put his arms around them and groped their chests.

After returning to his seat, a third flight attendant told Berry to remain seated, leading him to punch the attendant in the face.

After a fight broke out, passengers intervened helping duct-tape Berry to his seat and tie him with a seatbelt extender for the remaining flight.

In a video posted online, Berry can seen with his mouth partially covered with tape calling for help, as the plane prepares to land.

His cries, however, are met with laughter and teasing from the other passengers.

A Twitter user who claims to be the unruly passenger in the video spoke of how he was unfairly treated to his alleged misconduct.

“This will forever be the most dehumanizing experience in my entire life,” Berry wrote. “Many people laughed and ridiculed me as I was mistreated by staff of a PROFESSIONAL airline. Just to make matters worth this has gone “viral” on the internet and will never disappear.”

Frontier Airlines initially said the crew was temporarily suspended because the passenger was not restrained using the proper procedures.

A statement from the Association of Flight Attendants-CWA President Sara Nelson criticised Frontier Airlines and called on the carrier to support the crew.

“Flight Attendants have faced an onslaught of disruptions on our flights this year. The situation on Frontier this weekend is one of the worst examples,” the statement read.

“A drunk and irate passenger verbally, physically, and sexually assaulted multiple members of the crew. When he refused to comply after multiple attempts to de-escalate, the crew was forced to restrain the passenger with the tools available to them onboard.”

Frontier has since backtracked, saying it now supports the crew members involved in the incident.

“Frontier Airlines maintains the utmost value, respect, concern and support for all of our flight attendants, including those who were assaulted on this flight,” spokeswoman Jennifer de la Cruz said in a statement.

“We are supporting the needs of these team members and are working with law enforcement to fully support the prosecution of the passenger involved.”

Berry was charged with three counts of battery, according to the arrest report. It identifies the charge as a misdemeanour and says FBI agents who also came to the scene and said they were not going to pursue federal felony charges.

The FAA is receiving about 100 reports per week of unruly and physically violent behaviour of passengers.
