Authorities have charged a 19-year-old man accused of running half-naked toward an aircraft at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

A man has been charged after he stripped down to his underwear and ran around on the tarmac at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Jhyrin Jones, 19, was filmed approaching a Delta Air Lines plane that just arrived from Miami.

Mr Jones is accused of  jumping on the aircraft wing and pounding on the windows.

He is charged with criminal trespassing, obstruction of law enforcement, damage to property and public indecency for exposing himself to passengers, police said.

Atlanta airport initially tweeted that the suspect exited a plane to gain access to the runway, however, according to reports Jones may have jumped over the perimeter fence.

Mr Jones made his first appearance in court Wednesday morning.

The judge, reading part of Jones’ arrest warrant, said: “You made numerous attempts to get away from officers by kicking the patrol vehicle and throwing your body around, including a back flip while being placed into a patrol car.”

He was given an $18,000 bond.
