A video has been posted online showing mayhem in Fort Lauderdale Airport after Spirit Airlines cancelled nine flights.
Flight cancellations by Spirit Airlines, due to labour issues with the pilot’s union, led to mayhem on Monday night at Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport.
The shocking video, which has gone viral since being uploaded, shows passengers clashing with Spirit employees and one another. Broward Sherriff’s deputies were on hand to maintain order.
The Sheriff’s Office said three travellers were arrested in connection with the disruption.
Spirit Airlines pilots are fighting for better contracts, which they claim are currently below industry standards.
Spirit spokesman Paul Berry said in a statement: “This is a result of unlawful labour activity by some Spirit pilots designed to disrupt Spirit operations for our customers, by cancelling multiple flights across our network.”
Due to the labour disputes, the airline is currently ranked the worst in the world for cancellations.
