An overheated vape pen caused a fire on a Delta plane bound for Houston.
A small fire erupted on a Delta aircraft as passengers boarded their flight at New York’s LaGuardia Airport.
The plane, bound for Houston, was on the ground when the incident occurred.
In a video posted online, a small fire is seen coming from a bag in an overhead compartment.
Fire just broke out on a Delta flight. I was sitting a few rows back but another person was sitting closer and caught video of the flames! Apparently a vape pen exploded and caught a bag on fire. @nowthisnews pic.twitter.com/DYdlfvTM0g

A flight attendant is then seen using a fire extinguisher to put out the fire.
An airline statement said passengers “deplaned routinely” and continued on a different aircraft.
The incident reminds passengers why lithium-ion batteries aren’t allowed inside checked baggage.
It also raises questions as to the danger imposed by the US government when in 2017 it banned electronics larger than a mobile phone in carry-on luggage for direct flights departing 10 major airports in the Middle East.
