Woman arrested after reportedly faking illness to get a better seat.

A woman has been arrested after she reportedly faked a medical emergency in an attempt to get a better seat on her American Airlines flight.

The flight, destined for Miami from Pensacola, returned back 1-hour into the trip after the woman complained of having trouble breathing.

According to reports, the unnamed woman first asked cabin crew whether there was a bigger seat available.

When she was told no, that’s when she said she reportedly faked her illness.

Upon landing back in Pensacola, the woman initially refused to get off of the aircraft, prompting a full disembarkation of the plane.

The woman was eventually arrested and transported to a mental health facility for evaluation under the Baker Act.

In a statement, an American Airlines spokesperson said: “Earlier today, American Eagle 3508 returned to Pensacola due to a passenger who requested medical assistance.

“The flight took off at 5:43 a.m. and landed back at Pensacola at 6:26 a.m. and taxied to the gate. All passengers deplaned normally at the gate through the main boarding door and onto the jet bridge.

“The passenger was subsequently removed by law enforcement and medical personnel, and the flight took off again at 7:41 a.m.”
