Woman runs away with fiancée’s luggage the day before the wedding.
A groom-to-be was left “totally inconsolable” after his fiancée ditched him at London’s Heathrow Airport the day before their wedding and fled with his bags and £5,000 cash.
According to reports, the couple got engaged the day before the incident, and were all set to officially tie the knot in Rome two days later.
The couple, in their 40s, were planning to spend a night in London before travelling on to Italy for their big day.
However, as the unidentified man went to the toilets in the baggage reclaim area, his fiancée collected the bags and disappeared, taking everything with her, including £5,000 in cash.
The police were called but there was nothing they could do. One witness told a British newspaper: “In the end, the police were called. Even her name was in doubt.”
A Met Police spokeswoman confirmed they were called to investigate. She said enquiries continue and no arrests have been made at this time.
One onlooker said: “He was in bits — totally inconsolable. Apparently, they’d only met very recently and he’d fallen head-over-heels for her.
“He’d proposed a day earlier and she’d accepted.”
It is not yet clear whether the woman left the airport or flew to another country.
