London-bound Air India flight turns back to Delhi after passenger “harms” cabin crew.
A passenger reportedly caused “physical harm” to two cabin crew members on a London-bound Air India flight on Monday, forcing the captain to turn back to Delhi and hand the man over to the police.
Jaskirat Singh, 25, from Punjab’s Kapurthala, reportedly became unruly soon after flight AI111 took off.
According to witnesses onboard, Singh pulled one of the cabin crew’s hair just 15 minutes into the flight before attacking other members of staff a short while after.
It is unclear why the man decided to attack the flight attendants.
The pilot in command decided to return to Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport where Singh was handed over to the police.
A spokesman for Air India said: “Air India flight AI 111 scheduled to operate Delhi-London Heathrow on April 10, 2023 returned to Delhi shortly after departure due to the serious unruly behaviour of a passenger on board.
“Not heeding verbal and written warnings, the passenger continued with unruly behaviour including causing physical harm to two of the cabin crew members.
“The pilot in command decided to return to Delhi and the passenger was handed over to the security personnel upon landing.”
Air India made headlines recently, also for unruly passengers on its flights.
Last month, a passenger on a flight from Mumbai to London was caught smoking in the toilets.
While in November, passenger Shankar Mishra was accused of drunkenly urinating on an elderly woman on a flight from New York to Delhi.
Air India initially gave Mishra only a 30-day ban.
