Frontier Airlines flight attendant delivers baby mid-flight.
A Frontier Airlines flight attendant gave unexpected assistance to a passenger: helping deliver the woman’s baby daughter mid-flight.
The plane was traveling from Denver International Airport to Orlando International Airport, when the woman went into labour.
A flight attendant identified by the airline as Diana Giraldo guided her to the back bathroom and helped deliver the baby girl.
As the baby was being delivered, the flight was “deviated to Pensacola, Florida to get mom and baby to a medical facility,” the airline said in a statement to USA TODAY.
Though the baby’s first name has not been shared publicly, Frontier did reveal that the mother has chosen the middle name “Sky” due to the unusual conditions of her arrival in the world.
“Diana again went above and beyond after the completion of the flight to coordinate our return to Orlando,” Captain Chris Nye said.
“The whole crew really did a great job. I transferred controls and flying duties to my first officer as I coordinated the diversion.
“Dispatch did a great job as well by suggesting Pensacola Airport and getting a gate and paramedics ready for us. This was a job well done, and I was happy to see everyone working together to successfully deliver a newborn on an aircraft!”
This little girl isn’t the only kid born in the air in recent years.
A baby named Haven, who was born on a Cebu Pacific flight from Dubai to Manila in 2016, was given one million miles by the Filipino airline.
